So, you shift the lamps, run another batch, and hope for the best. It’s basically a guessing game. And when you’re working with expensive PCBs, “guessing” is a great way to scrap a lot of money. We’re done with that. Instead of messing around with bolts and brackets on the fly, we’re using digital twins to figure out the layout before any hardware even touches the floor.
The struggle with heat
Here’s the thing: in a curing oven, if your heat isn’t perfectly even, you’re in trouble. A few centimeters of misplaced lamp can create a thermal gradient. That’s just a fancy way of saying some parts get baked while others stay cold, which leads to warped boards. We use simulation software to map out exactly how the heat hits the conveyor. By creating a digital twin of the oven, we can let an algorithm run thousands of different lamp positions in seconds. It finds the exact sweet spot where the heat overlaps perfectly, killing off those annoying dead zones.

The software looks at the “view factor”—how the infrared light actually sees the surface—and accounts for how heat bounces off the walls or gets soaked up by the curing agent. The result? Keeping it real
Now, let’s be honest: simulation isn’t magic. A digital model is only as good as the info you give it. If your conveyor speed starts drifting or your board thickness changes, that “perfect” layout from the computer won’t be perfect anymore. You still need a human touch on the shop floor. That’s why we always suggest building in about 5-10% adjustability in your mounting brackets. Give yourself a little wiggle room for the real world.
