Getting the Most Out of the 1260mm Carbon Fiber Heater
We built this 1260mm carbon fiber lamp for the heavy-duty stuff. If you’re running an industrial setup and need heat—and you need it now—this is the tool for the job. It runs on 220V and pulls 3500W, which means you’re getting a massive amount of power spread across a long, lean line. Let’s talk power. Pushing 3500W over a meter-plus of glass is no joke. That’s a lot of heat moving fast. We went with carbon fiber filaments because they can handle a much heavier current than the old-school nichrome wires. The moment you flip the switch at 220V, it’s hot. Just a heads-up: make sure your wiring and contactors can handle a continuous 16A draw. You don’t want your terminals melting because the wires were too thin. Why carbon fiber? Most people are used to quartz halogen tubes, but these are different. The carbon fiber elements push out a broad spectrum of infrared radiation. In plain English? The heat actually sinks deeper into whatever material you’re working on. We wrap everything in high-purity quartz to keep the oxygen from eating the filament. Plus, you don’t get those annoying “hot spots” you see in thinner wires. The heat stays steady and even from one end of the lamp to the other. A few things to watch out for. This is a great drop-in replacement for most big drying or curing lines. But remember, 3500W creates an intense amount of radiant heat. If your housing isn’t vented properly, you’re basically baking your own sensors and wires. I highly recommend using a PID controller and a fast thermocouple. It stops the filament from overshooting and burning itself out. One last thing. These things are powerful, but the quartz is fragile. One wrong move or a clumsy mount during installation and you’ve got a cracked tube. **Pro tip:**Wear gloves. Even the oils from your skin can create tiny stress points on the glass. When things get screaming hot, those little spots can turn into a full-blown failure. Keep it clean, handle it with care, and it’ll do the work.
