If you go with a higher voltage, you can use longer tubes without worrying about the temperature dropping off at the ends. Plus, high-wattage lamps give you a much wider spread of heat. That means no more annoying “cold spots” in your heating zone. Just a heads-up: make sure your power supply matches the lamp’s rated voltage. If you don’t, you’ll burn through them way faster than you should. The build and the “glow” The quartz glass isn’t just for show—it keeps the filament from oxidizing. We use a specific seal to keep everything inside stable. And here is a nice perk: since carbon fiber doesn’t hit the same crazy temperatures as tungsten, you don’t get that blinding, surgical white light. Instead, you get a deep, moody red glow. It’s much easier on the eyes, which means you might not need as much heavy shielding on your shop floor. Where they work (and where they don’t) You’ll see these all over the place in PET blowing, plastic welding, and drying lines. They heat up incredibly fast. Like, really fast. And that’s a win because it shaves time off your cycle. But there is a trade-off. Carbon fiber is a bit more delicate than metal. If your machinery shakes a lot or takes a few hard hits, the filament can just snap. You’ve got to make sure your mounting brackets are rock solid and the lamp isn’t being squeezed or stressed. One last thing: if you’re packing a lot of wattage into a tiny space, don’t skimp on the cooling fans. If the heat builds up too much around the quartz, the glass can crack. Keep it cool, and you’re golden.
