We build these lamps in 1000W, 1500W, and 1600W versions because sometimes you just need a massive amount of heat, and you need it now. Instead of those old-school metal coils, we use a carbon fiber core wrapped in high-purity quartz glass. It basically changes how the heat moves, pushing it straight into your material rather than wasting it. Picking your power Here is the thing about the jump from 1000W to 1600W: it’s not just about “more heat.” It’s about speed. A 1600W lamp hits your target temperature way faster, which means your cycle times drop. But you have to be smart about it. Match the wattage to your line speed. If you cram a 1600W tube into a housing meant for a 1000W one, you’re asking for trouble. You could melt your wiring or fry your reflectors. Check your cooling fans. Make sure they can actually handle the load. The gear inside The carbon fiber filament is great because the heat spreads evenly across the whole tube. No weird cold spots. And the quartz? We use it because it doesn’t freak out when the temperature swings wildly. It lets the IR radiation slide right through. That means the energy goes where it belongs—into your product—not into the glass. But a word of warning: these things are fragile.Really fragile. If you touch the quartz with your bare hands, the oil from your fingerprint creates a hot spot. That spot will eventually burn out the whole lamp. Wear gloves. Always. Getting them to work These usually slide right into most short-wave IR systems without a fuss. Just keep an eye on your voltage. If your power spikes, it’ll kill the filament in a heartbeat. We mostly see these used in PET blowing or drying lines where you can’t afford to wait around for things to warm up. Since they heat directly and don’t rely on blowing hot air around, they’re incredibly efficient. Just make sure your focal distance is dialed in. Get too close, and you’ll scorch your material.
